Yesterday Leeds welcomed the South African Sectary for the High Commission, Carol Mabuza, ahead of next year’s appointment of a new High Commissioner. Representatives from Leeds Metropolitan University, ArtForms and STAY UK, groups with projects taking place in South Africa, joined Leeds City Council International Relations to share the history of the long-standing partnership with Carol Mabuza!
Garforth Academy Head and Deputy welcomed the visitors for a celebration of their active partnership with a Durban school. Carol Mabuza listened to song recordings made by pupils in Garforth with their partner school and was gifted a video made by the students, ‘Voices Against Apartheid’. They are looking ahead to next year’s anniversary of 20 years since democratisation in South Africa.
