Leeds and Siegen have been partner cities since 1966.
Siegen is the oldest partnership that Leeds has developed as a result of the post-war twinning movement, with the twinning charter being signed with former county borough Morley in 1966.
Siegen has strong community and educational based links with Leeds.
Among those links is the Siegen circle – a voluntary group which promotes grass root links between the two cities and meets quarterly to discuss future and ongoing projects. Similarly, there is the Morley Circle in Siegen.
