ODI Leeds (Open Data Institute) is continuing to strengthen its partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands through its Northernlands collaboration, a celebration of innovation and creativity from the North of the UK and the Netherlands.
The ‘Northernlands’ partnership began back into 2019 with an event at Leeds Digital Festival and has continued to go from strength-to-strength. Last week saw the return of Northernlands, with a second event focusing on a number of topics relating to data and the Coronavirus crisis, including how open data can support public health organisations to save lives, and how lockdown in many cities has forced people to rethink how they move about their neighbourhoods and their cities.
Over 20 speakers from both Leeds and the Netherlands took part in the 2-day online event, including the Acting Ambassador for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the UK, Brechje Schwachöfer, and doctor, academic, campaigner and writer, Ben Goldacre.
Commenting on the event, founder of ODI Leeds, Paul Connell said: “Northernlands 2 was a such a great event and we really loved working with the team at The Embassy of The Kingdom of The Netherlands – our North Sea Neighbours.
“So many highlights and I am sure that people will be using the talks content and contacts to work on how we all navigate the future. We pioneered lots of technology at the event and are already looking at what Northernlands 3 will be so if you would like to learn more about online events or get connected to the Netherlands just get in touch on Hello@odileeds.org“
ODI Leeds was founded in November 2013, to explore and deliver the potential of open innovation with data at city scale by bringing together communities, hosting events, producing open data projects to help promote understanding of open data in our region.
