Last week, Leeds welcomed a special visit of over 30 young people and teachers from our Chinese partner city Hangzhou.

The group, from Hangzhou's Greentown Secondary School, made a special visit to Leeds during their visit to the UK for a summer school, and were welcomed by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Barry Anderson.

Hangzhou Greentown School is a private school in Hangzhou, China. They provide Middle Years Programme for students from year 7 to year 9. The school participates in the construction of international courses based on the Chinese domestic compulsory curriculum to help students adapt to overseas study. They have a faculty of 280 and 2400 students and are the only world-wide affiliated boarding school in mainland China.

The Hangzhou Greentown School pupils have been attending a summer English language school programme with Oxford Spires International for two weeks.

Leeds and Hangzhou have been partner cities since 1989. The relationship was one of the first UK-Chinese city partnerships established. In 2018 Leeds and Hangzhou celebrated 30 years of partnership, and renewed their commitment to the link.
