A guest blog from Chris Cassar from the Leeds United Supporters Club Malta
In February, the strong bond between Leeds United and its international supporters was proudly on display as 57 members of the Leeds United Supporters Club Malta travelled from Malta to Leeds for a memorable week celebrating football, friendship, and community.
The visit was centred around three key fixtures, with members attending the matches against Manchester City and Sunderland AFC, while a smaller group remained in the city to support the team against Norwich City. For many of our members, travelling to Leeds to watch the club we passionately support is always a special occasion, and this trip proved no different.
Our week began with the launch of the Leeds United Supporters Club Malta’s five-year commemorative book, a publication celebrating the club’s journey, achievements, and the strong community that has grown around our shared love for Leeds United. The book also highlights the economic contribution Maltese supporters make to the city through regular visits, match attendance, and extended stays in Leeds.
The trip concluded with a wonderful reception hosted by the Lord Mayor and Mayoress of Leeds at the historic Leeds Civic Hall. It was a great honour for our members to be welcomed at such an iconic venue and to celebrate the connection between our supporters club and the city of Leeds.
The visit was a tremendous success, strengthening the ties between Malta and Leeds and demonstrating the truly global reach of Leeds United. Our members returned home with fantastic memories, proud to represent Malta while supporting the club we love.
