Over the next two years Leeds City Council International Relations will be coordinating an exciting new project. The CIVIC (Citizenship In action through Voice and Influence of Children) project, funded by the British Council & Comenius Regio Fund, links three primary schools in Leeds with their partner schools in Lille. Through teacher training, mobilities and exchange of best practice, CIVIC will explore and develop school’s engagement and support of children’s citizenship. It also aims to promote modern foreign languages (MFL) and the use of information communication technologies (ICT).
On the 4th to 6th November Lille teachers and playworkers will arrive in Leeds for the first project mobility. They’ll be warmly welcomed to the city and will join their school partners and Leeds City Council International Relations at traditional Bonfire Night Celebrations! As well as getting a taste of English culture and school life all teachers will be taught to use an exciting new schools-safe social media platform. Children in Lille and Leeds will then be able to share messages, videos, podcasts with each other.
